Falling In Love with Sonoma
If you follow highway 101 north out of San Francisco for about an hour and half you will find yourself immersed in the sprawling countryside of Sonoma. This picturesque region is ideal for outdoor weddings and events in the late summer and fall, which is what we here in San Francisco call our Indian Summer.
As a rule, wineries have sought to make a statement. A Sonoma Wedding offers panoramic views, extraordinary sunsets and cool evening breezes, not to mention award winning hand crafted wines. Sonoma offers a collection of both boutique private estates and large production wineries each offering a different experience.
In recent years, more and more vineyards in Sonoma are opening their doors to eager couples who want to share the Sonoma experience with their family and friends as their choice for a destination wedding celebration. As you enter the gateway of Sonoma where Highway 37 meets 121, you'll notice a relatively new addition to the Sonoma collection called Ram's Gate Winery. The building structure of Ram's Gate is spectacular. The Modern Farmhouse styling with urban features and designer lighting include expansive views and a lounge area that brings a new meaning to the word comfy. A bit further down the road you have Jacuzzi Family, Vainsa Winery and Marketplace and the incredible Corner Stone Gardens. All of these locations are stunning and although they are shockingly within a five minute drive of one another, the architecture, style and feel of all of these locations are uniquely different. The couple who is looking for the old world romance of a Tuscan villa or the Italian countryside may enjoy the architecture and styling of Vainsa and Jacuzzi, while the couple looking for a more eclectic site that boasts unique and on-trend architecture and landscape elements will fall in love with Cornerstone. At the end of the Valley we have one of our favorites, Kunde Family Vineyards, featured in the above wedding celebration. Kunde is unique in that it offers the widest range of settings in one location. They have ruins, hill top views, a renovated farm house and a patio as well as a tasting room- all of which are stunning locations for each part of a celebration. All of these locations are just a sampling of what Sonoma County has to offer, but these and the dozens of other options available to use as a venue are why so many couples (and Alicia K Designs!) are falling in love with Sonoma.
