Rarely (If ever), do I find that someone says: “I am so excited it is Monday!” This week though, I was excited that Monday had come as we had a mini Monday Holiday to look forward to (A “Moliday” as I have recently christened it). We had the fortunate opportunity to visit and stay at the lovely Dream Inn in Santa Cruz, and tour the gorgeous Devine Ranch. It was quite a “Moliday” to remember.
Growing up visiting Santa Cruz, I was well familiar with the Dream Inn, and therefore so excited to have the chance to experience it as a “guest”. Aurora, the events director on-site was so generous towards our AK Team, giving us the 10th floor suite with the most breathtaking views of the ocean and boardwalk. We were even greeted with a bottle of bubbly and a cheese plate (Two of our favorite things). Our suite was so roomy with ample space to lounge and decorated in a modern design.
That evening, we toured the banquet space and ate at the Aquarius, the hotel’s restaurant. The banquet room was an open space with room to sit 200 guests comfortably. The floor to ceiling windows really brought the outdoors in, I could only imagine it during sunset! Afterwards, we dined at the restaurant below where it had recently undergone a remodel. Mimicking the same floor to ceiling windows as the banquet hall, the ocean views was the focus. It had a great modern easy feel to it as well, with great décor. We had a wonderful meal, and even had room for dessert! The next Morning, we were sad to leave as we awoke to the crashing waves of the ocean just yards away. The Dream Inn is really a wonderful hotel we so were sad to leave it.
The next leg of our trip was to visit Devine Ranch—a new property in Aptos, only a short drive away from Santa Cruz. This private residence lies on 80 acres of which cattle, horses, and dogs roam its vast grounds. It is a breathtaking property and immediately transports you from the moment you see the exquisite rod-iron gate.
The home itself is situated on the top of a hill, with 360 degrees of views of the neighboring hills and landscape. It has done a wonderful job of incorporating the outdoors in, with exposed wooden beams, stone fireplaces, and most importantly, the tall windows every room has. You literally feel like you are among nature in this very- nature inspired home, but you still have the amenities and warmth of your own home. It’s truly a special space, and we cannot wait when we have the chance to work there!
Its quick getaways like this when we have the chance to get to know new spaces that get our creative juices going with endless possibilities. We truly cannot be thankful enough for our hosts at both Dream Inn and Devine Ranch for making our work-week more exciting.
We hope you enjoy the photos of our “Moliday!”
