One of the most satisfying and gratifying things that one can do is to give back to their community. In following suite with Team AK’s quarterly “give back” event, it was my choice to decide what our team was going to do. Needless to say, it was such a tough decision! San Francisco has so many fantastic community service opportunities that covers so many different sectors and interests. We are so lucky to live in a city where such activities are so accessible to the public and are run by passionate organizations who dedicate their time and energy to support their causes. After many searches, I finally decided to sign our team up to serve lunch with Glide. For those who may not know, Glide is an organization run by the Glide Memorial Methodist Church whose outreach ranges from serving free meals to the hungry, health clinics, and help those who are victims of violence,. They have been helping their community since 1969 and do a great job with staff who truly love what they do. While Glide offers so many different programs, our team served lunch for the community.
We served over 1500 meals that day – and there were so many grateful and happy faces in the line and no wonder why: it’s such a warm and inviting environment inside the cafeteria. It’s great to know that there are great organizations, like Glide who make sure that those who are falling on tough times in their lives can at least count on meals to keep them going. What are you going to do to give back to your community?
