Choosing a Theme for Your Wedding
With engagement season upon us, we wanted to get you some ideas on the best way to go about choosing a theme for your wedding. There are all kinds of things you can do, themes to develop and inspirations to build from. The common thread among the entire decision making process though, is to not get overwhelmed with the details. Easier said than done, we know, but that's where Team AKD comes in! The key is let go a bit and let the pros handle the juggling for you so you can thoroughly enjoy your event. Here are some helpful tips from my dear friend and former bride @samcondello
"I've always heard to start with the location. But, some say start with the dress. If you love a tea length dress then a garden wedding is way to go. If you like bohemian dresses, like I do, then a tree/nature ceremony is for you. Strapless ball gown? Definitely evening reception. Same goes for other way around - If you've always dreamed of getting married in an art museum, let that dictate your dress choice: modern, contemporary, chic, clean lines.
For me, because we chose the Bel Age Hotel on Sunset Boulevard, I wanted old Hollywood glam. Martini bar, gold accents, black cocktail dresses for the bridesmaids. It was truly a fabulous affair.
Every wedding is unique. Your beach wedding doesn't have to look like everyone else's beach wedding. Want a beach wedding but don't like to get sand everywhere? Pick a hotel overlooking the beach at sunset for an elegant event.Pick one piece of inspiration: A book, movie, poem, activity (hot air ballooning!) and build from that one thing. Definitely make a vision board."
And here's a visual mash up to get you started! These samples feature garden party, rustic ranch, beach chic, luxe romantic, contemporary urban - there is something for everyone, including you! What will your theme be?
